EKF was founded in 1972. In the late 70’s, the company was developing standardized microcomputer components and accessory software as a replacement for conventional process control technology. As an independent systems manufacturer, EKF concentrated, from the very beginning, on complete solutions for industrial problems by using the latest in technology, with a focus on high reliability and long-term availability of all products.

In the beginning of the 80’s the company expanded, thanks mainly to its innovative products based on EUROBUS, at the time the leading bus standard for Motorola CPUs.

In 1998, EKF started the development and manufacture of CompactPCI® boards and systems based on Intel® low power (mobile) processors. Since then, CPCI modules have become the de facto standard for new modular designs. In addition, EKF is currently developing solutions for new standards such as CompactPCI® Serial, incorporating the PCI Express® and other high speed technolgy.

Further more, custom specific boards and systems are a growing part of EKF’s extended product portfolio, including ruggedized solutions for the industrial temperature range and harsh environmentEKF maintains a certified quality management system according to ISO 9000 with respect to both, development and manufacturing (ISO 9001 & ISO 9002).
