Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV)

The Canadian Army’s Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) III fleet have been replaced with the LAV 6.0 as the Army’s primary infantry fighting vehicle. With enhanced protection, mobility and firepower, this upgraded all-weather vehicle can be used on most types of terrain. The vehicle can ford hard-bottomed bodies of water to a depth of 1.5 metres. Capable of speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour on roads, the LAV III Upgrade gives the commander more options in both combat and non-combat situations.

The LAV III Upgrade6.0 is powered by a water-cooled, six-cylinder, 450-horsepower, and turbo-charged diesel engine with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The operator can select four or eight-wheel drive.
